But at the time in that state you could be kept in prison almost indefinitely if the warden thought you hadn't been rehabilitated. He kept stealing food in prison and he kept getting more and more time added on. About ten years before he was released they found out he had diabetes and was stealing food because he felt weak if he went too long without food. I know about this. I am diabetic and I have to constantly snack. I met him when he wanted to fulfill a lifetime dream of singing on stage. I watched his amazing performance. A couple of weeks later I read his obituary. He did around 70 years for stealing a chicken.

For me, what the parents did immediately after the fact and well after is what convinces me that they did it or at least, know who did. With all the money and resources they had, why didn't they devote the same to finding out who killed their child especially since doing so would clear them from all suspicion about their role in her death? Even people who are/were nowhere as wealthy went all out/continue to spare no expense/resources in finding the people who killed their children/other family members. They just acted like the horrible death of their child was no big deal both immediately after the fact and well after. It doesn't make sense.
