I see that the atc was a little sensitive at the end.. but wasnt it the pilot who requested the visual when the atc suspected an obvious ils? He claimed he got the beacan in sight, so from the atc's point view, things just don't add up. Especially with such METAR. Among the confusion, pilot tells atc that he isnt much of a help which obviously sets atc off. If the weather was an issue, im not sure why he didnt take the ils. And i think atc correcting pilots altitude is his revenge on pilot asking left or right turn on the vectors.. aggression is useless in this industry

I remember in middle school learning to speak slowly while giving oral reports. We tend to speak quickly in normal conversation and also unintentionally pick up the pace when nervous. I was told that if you sound like you're speaking slowly in your head, you probably sound normal to your audience. I guess ATC doesn't also learn this important lesson?

I'm just wondering with all of the advancements made in the last few decades the sound quality on these things doesn't seem to ever change. I know pilots and ATC's hearing probably adjusts fairly quickly (kind of like watching a British TV show as an American or vice versa), but when we're talking about pilots coming from all over speaking English as their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or greater language it seems like sound quality would be essential. When the pilot said "river" I heard "weather" too. The F-16 is barely audible. Does it sound better in the headphones and it's just crap on the recording?

To the people saying the ATC was "flustered," the reason he keeps asking people to repeat is because there was a lot of fog and he could not visually see what happened. He did a good job handling the situation.

I came to hear the longer "unedited version" so I could hear the discussion about JetBlue 1528’s report of “picking up a Strong ELT" at 5:44. I am in disbelief that this report does not warrant a response by ATC or further discussion especially as the audible warning horn is blaring in repeated transmissions at 5:38, 5:50 and 5:52 as well. Anyone else shocked by this or have any further info??? VASAviation ... we really appreciate the service you provide our community by pulling these together; thanks!

The ACA781 had been cleared to land by the tower so they then changed their radio frequemcy to the ground frequency. The tower then seemed to rescind their clearance by asking ACA to go around. What am I missing here? Is it a matter of timing? Should ACA781 have waited a little longer before changing their radio frequency. I don't get it...
